## Risk appears when several things change at once

- **Scattered signals**: Regulation, sanctions, energy and logistics get analysed apart.
- **Second-order effects**: Exposure shifts with the counterparty, territory or sector behind it.
- **A decision hard to explain**: Without sources and assumptions, a review is hard to explain.

## Your perimeter

- Portfolios
- Counterparties
- Territories
- Sectors

## From the published event to the counterparty in your portfolio

African swine fever in wild boar in Cerdanyola (Barcelona) (Spanish Ministry of Agriculture · 28 Nov 2025)

- Export certificates requiring an “ASF-free country” blocked (Mexico and Japan among them)
- 4 counterparties in your portfolio export pork (Your portfolio)

What to check:

- Weight of those markets in their sales
- Revenue assumptions in the scenario

## Swine fever in a credit portfolio: same event, different counterparties

The outbreak near Barcelona did not hit all pork exporters equally. China applied regionalisation within days; Japan and Mexico did not. The exposure depends on each counterparty's markets and plants, not on the sector.

### From day 0 to where it hurt

- Day 0 · 28 Nov 2025: China suspends plants of 12 companies in Barcelona province.
- Day 3 · 1 Dec: China confirms regionalisation; Mexico closes to all of Spain.
- Day 21 · 19 Dec: Japan keeps its ban, except for meat produced before 29 October.
- Day 175 · 22 May 2026: The Philippines reopens, except Barcelona province.
- Month 10 · Sep 2026: Industry puts the loss in Japan and Mexico at €350m.
